Aaron Rodgers Hurt Me
It’s taken me a while to write this. The pain has been too much. Like the rest of America, I was rattled by the revelation that Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers was not in fact vaccinated, and to make matters worse, he listens to the Joe Rogan Podcast.
If I’m being honest, I feel lost. For weeks I was operating under the assumption that Rodgers was vaccinated, leaving me with a sense of security to get through my days. When I faced adversity at work or in my personal life, I regularly fell back on Aaron’s vaccination status, and immediately felt comfort.
But now my world’s been shattered.
Thankfully, we have dedicated writers at every media outlet across the world scrambling to write brilliant articles bashing Rodgers. This way literally no American could escape the commentary surrounding the situation and random people’s opinions on the matter.
I know where Max Kellerman stands, along with Howard Stern, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jimmy Kimmel (I didn’t realize late-night shows existed), Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, and various journalists at publications such as the Washington Post, NBC and every other major news operation.
But if I’m being honest, I want more opinions. We have yet to hear from President Biden, competitive eater Joey Chestnut, or McDonald’s Chairman of the Board Enrique Hernandez, Jr, just to name a few.
Until these individuals and everyone else give their opinion on this matter, we cannot move forward as a society. As long as their opinion is based in outrage and condemnation. Only then will I be satisfied. Inexplicably, I actually overheard a conversation between patrons at my local Ace Hardware that was clearly not aimed at Aaron’s disgusting existence. We all need to do better.
In the meantime, I have to continue to look at my 3-year-old son and wonder what type of world I’m raising him in, a world where even an NFL quarterback can’t be trusted, depended on, to fulfill my worldview. I truly don’t know where to turn next.
All we can hope for is for someone else famous to do something we don’t like so we can finally turn the page on this hideous chapter in America’s history. Let’s pray for peace and healing.
