2020 Season Strength Of Schedule: Wide Receivers
To my friends, thank you for coming.
To new followers, welcome to data degen nation and FantasyUnleashd.
For those that are new, this is part III of positional strength of schedule (SOS), which is based on fantasy points allowed by opposing defenses, NOT winning % like your standard SOS!
This post, we look at wide receivers (WRs).
Who has a schedule against secondaries that gifted WRs fantasy points in 2019? Who has a schedule against secondaries similar to a police officer holding the key to a prisoner trying to escape? You know… Like locked down…
Heck with it. Let’s data dive.
Data Model:
Position: WR
Based on 2019 fantasy points allowed by opposing defenses per game
PPR Scoring
Quads are grouped by teams of 8
Quad 1: Teams 1 to 8 that allowed the most fantasy points
Quad 2: Teams 9 to 16
Quad 3: Team 17 to 24
Quad 4: Teams 25 to 32 that allowed the least points
Ranking is a weighted scoring system based off-tiers. Average points allowed (most to least) is the tie breaker
Highlighted cells for each quad means that team has 5 or more games against defenses in that particular quad
I.e. Chicago has 7 games against Quad 1 defenses. These are the top 8 defenses that allowed the most points to opposing WRs
The SOS is for your own digestion and a tool for your research.
I’ll however provide a few highlighted thoughts in each series post:
Chicago: We have a recurring theme between each post and that is Chicago being at the top of the list for an easy fantasy schedule. To recap, Chicago had the easiest schedule for QB and third easiest for RB. Chicago is again number one easiest for WR. On standard strength of schedule based on winning %, they are T-13th easiest. This is why looking at fantasy data exclusively relative to schedules is important!

Green Bay and Seattle: The three stooges of FU are leaning towards limited exposure to the entire Green Bay offense. If there is one guy that could make our wallets pay, it is Davante Adams. One of the most talented WRs in the league faces a cupcake schedule to start the season. As for Seattle, just another indicator that DK Metcalf could be heading towards a breakout campaign and Tyler Lockett could have back-to-back 1,000 yard performances.
Baltimore: It seems more people than not are gaining excitement for Marquise Brown. I admit that he looks super talented dicing between cones at a blink of an eye in his Snapchat workout videos. I also continue to remind myself that Lamar Jackson had the highest TE targeting tendency in the NFL last year. I will now continue to remind myself that Marquise Brown has a not so fun schedule hanging out at the bottom of the list.
Tight ends coming to you next.
