Fantasy Industry Roundup: July 27th 2020
Hello everyone . Taylor Swift launched a new album and Antonio Brown retired again. Or was that the week before? It’s really hard to tell anymore. All I know is that we’re only 45 days until the 2020 NFL season kicks off.
Here are a few things from the fantasy industry that caught our eye on Twitter in recent days.
Mike Randle pointed out some interesting ADP disparities when compared to 2019 finishes. Are some of these guys values or traps?
Biggest WR discrepancies between 2019 PPR Finish & Current ADP
— Mike Randle (@RandleRant) July 25, 2020
J. Edelman (WR9, WR30) -21
K. Allen (WR8, WR24) -16
M. Gallup (WR18, WR33) -15
D. Parker (WR16, WR29) -13
A.J. Brown (WR30, WR17) +13
J. Landry (WR22, WR32) -10
C. Kupp (WR7, WR15) -8
T. Boyd (WR27, WR34) -7
The FFPC ran a poll on one of the offseason’s biggest questions, and drafters are rolling with the veteran for now. We may have voted for Dobbins… We’re suckers for the exciting new toy.
Who will be better in 2020?
— The FFPC (@FFPC) July 26, 2020
I wanted to call out this FFPC draft board from Tejas Bodiwala because he got Kenny G in the 3rd and TERRYYYYYYYY in the 5th. Looking a little like an FU draft there.

Sports by Sollin asked another big offseason question, and the results were basically what you’d expect. AN INDUSTRY DIVIDED. Depends on the day of the week for me between Lockett and Metcalf, but I do have Lockett ranked higher.
Which of these Wide Receivers would you rather have in a redraft league? @MyFantasyLeague #NFL
— Sports By Sollin (@SportsNewsD) July 25, 2020
Meanwhile, Reception Perception creator and fantasy legend Matt Harmon had his own takeaways on the Lockett/Metcalf situation. Summary: They’re both good.
Been brewing this one for a while but going to do a thread of #ReceptionPerception goodness on the Seahawks WR duo, one that I expect to be considered a top-5 duo very soon.

Starting with DK Metcalf...
Speaking of unanswered questions, Matt Flowers over at Yards Per Fantasy did some digging on Miles Sanders and Doug Pederson backfields. Are high-stakes players nuts for routinely taking Sanders in the 1st round?

Is the #Eagles tendency to go RBBC something to worry about when projecting Miles Sanders’ production in 2020? In his debut article, @MattFFball finally puts this debate to rest. #FantasyFootball https://t.co/jGNYSqhplE
Meanwhile, BRoto Fantasy Football was pleading for the fantasy world not to overdraft Stefon Diggs. Wide receivers changing teams is always tough, and this offseason could make that worse. But Allen’s potential + Diggs’ big-play ability is enticing…
🚨THREAD: ONE IMPORTANT REASON WHY YOU SHOULD *NOT* DRAFT STEFON DIGGS🚨
— BRoto Fantasy Football (@BRotoFantasy) July 21, 2020
Last year, Diggs’ True Target Value was 25th for WRs-which aligns with his finish as WR20 in PPR
If Josh Allen were his QB last season, he’d have been 50th in TTV.
Let me explain what this means:
There were more Tyler Higbee tweets, too, of course.
Good morning #FantasyFootball World hate to talk bad about my guys but yal doing the most 😂🤦🏾♂️🐺🏆 #Rams pic.twitter.com/onEcoLNo7z

Does anyone have some uncomfortable numbers on Jordan Howard? Oh good, good, just what I wanted.
Jordan Howard is 3rd in rushing yards since 2016 behind only Ezekiel Elliott and Todd Gurley 😣😳

Graham Barfield had some blasphemous comments on Mike Gesicko… How dare you, Graham!
Mike Gesicki going ahead of Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson — two of the best TE prospects in recent history — is peak runaway hype.
— Graham Barfield (@GrahamBarfield) July 23, 2020
Gesicki saw just 4.4 targets per game when Preston Williams was healthy and was bad (20th of 24 TEs in yards per route run) when Williams was on IR.
We also recently had the launch of Underdog Fantasy, and it received some high praise on Twitter.
Cool summary by @UnderdogFantasy after you complete a draft. Just noticed this now with your team and bye week exposures broken down. pic.twitter.com/RvM6cN51Rg

Finally, Brett Kollman reminded us how dreadfully hopeless the situation was for DeShone Kizer when he was in Cleveland. This sparks an even more interesting question: Hue Jackson or Adam Gase? Maybe Beaver will receive a personal message from Adam Gase some day.
As a rookie, DeShone Kizer’s head coach was Hue Jackson, his WR1 was Ricardo Louis, and his starting tackles were Spenser Drango and Shon Coleman.

The Browns didn’t win a single game that year for a reason. Even Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold have NOTHING on that. https://t.co/UuuEmWC8Zw
